TGIT! I know it’s not quite Friday yet but Thursday means we’re almost to the weekend. And I don’t know about you but that definitely helps me get through the week! I usually like to start the weekend off with a nice glass of wine to help relax after a busy work week.
While I love to drink wine, I don’t really know that much about it if I’m being honest. I just know what I like and don’t venture out a ton. Enter Weekly Tasting!
Each week, one of the 2 sommelier’s on their staff carefully picks out 4 bottles of wine to put together a tasting pack. Unlike most wine clubs, there is no monthly fee or required spending. If you don’t like the pack, you don’t have to order it. If you like that weeks selections, order away! That way, you’re not stuck with a pack of wine that you don’t want. The overall goal is to broaden your wine palette.
One I placed my order, I received my package in 3-4 days. Each bottle that Weekly Tasting provides is 750ml and comes with a tasting card that includes facts about the wine and pairing suggestions. The sommelier also puts together a 10 minute tasting video about each wine pack to help you better understand everything about the wines you’re tasting. Quite frankly, I know nothing about pairing and the different notes/flavors you’re supposed to be picking up so this is very helpful for someone like me.
The thing I like most about Weekly Tasting, is it exposes me to wine and to blends of grapes that I don’t have access to where I typically buy wine. Let’s be real, I buy wine at Trader Joe’s and Target usually so this is a nice mix for me to veer away from the standard name brands I typically gravitate towards.
I almost always prefer a white wine so, much to my surprise, my favorite out of this pack was the Domaine Moncourt Saumur-Champigny 2016 Cab Franc. I had never tried a Cab Franc before but you bet your britches I will be from now on! But because I’m a creature of habit, my close second was the Di Men Greco di Tufo 2015. They were both amazing and even Tyler, who typically doesn’t care for white wine, enjoyed the Greco di Tufo. And of course it’s an Italian wine which must be why I loved it because I absolutely love Italy!
I’m already keeping an eye out for the next tasting pack I want to try out and am excited to broaden our wine tasting horizons.
Cheers, y’all!
Note: This tasting pack was sent to me complimentary but all opinions are 100% my own.
