Thank you to The Container Store for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
If you remember from my Instagram stories a few weeks ago, I went to a special Influencer preview of The Container Store that just opened at Short Pump Town Center on March 20th. Having never been in one of their stores before, to say the store was incredible is an understatement. They literally had everything I could ever dream of for getting organized! I very quickly understood the hype…and know I will be back on a very regular basis.
Our main storage issue with the kids is with their toys. As we don’t have a playroom to contain all of their various toys, we keep a large chunk in our living room, and some spills over into their bedrooms. As someone who does not enjoy all of the primary colors of kids’ toys with my decor, I was on a mission to contain it while still keeping with my general aesthetic for the house.
These cubbies have been a serious game-changer in our living room! Unfortunately, I failed to snag a before and after as Tyler assembled these and removed the old console table with 2 baskets while I was at work (he’s the best!). But before these cubbies, we had their toys on top of the table, on the bottom part of the table, and strewn all around the table. It was atrocious. But now that we have this new cubby store and bins, everything is kept out of sight, except for the larger items. And they almost feel on display to me, versus them being stacked on top and all around the bottom of the old table.
I still need to grab some decor for the top to make it look more “finished” but Tyler and I are both pleased with how it looks.
As I said, the kids’ toys spill over into both of their rooms. We chose to get them both twin beds so we could maximize floor space for playing with toys and the toy storage. A few massive Christmas gifts later, and Liam’s room was quite full! But the biggest pain point in his room was his stuffed animal collection. Is it just me or do they seem to multiply overnight?!
He loves to sleep with his stuffed animals but there were so many on his bed that there was hardly enough room for him in there! This storage bin has been a saving grace! They are still out, and he can easily access them if he wants one of them, but they are put away and off the floor/bed so his room looks less cluttered overall.
While Ellie’s room and stuffed animals weren’t quite as bad (she’s two years behind him on collecting stuffed animals), they were still slowing starting to take over so I decided we should nip that in the bud!
I opted for white for both kids’ storage, as they both have white bedroom furniture, but these units also come in grey! And they’re stackable! So if/when we move and we get a playroom and no longer need these in the kids’ rooms, we can stack them all in one place.
If you’re local and haven’t yet had a chance to pop into The Container Store in Short Pump, DON’T WAIT! I guarantee it will not disappoint. While you’re there look for my top product picks!
