1. Rimmel BB Cream
I love liquid foundation (I’m actually a big fan of a the Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse Foundation in the cooler months) but in the summer it just feels too thick and cakey. The Rimmel BB Cream is the best BB Cream I’ve tried so far. It’s mattifying but still provides good coverage if I’m just going out and running errands or heading to the pool. It also have 15 SPF which is key to protecting your skin in the brutal summer sun. The best part of all, it’s a drugstore product and I found it at Target for $7. Can’t beat that!
2. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
I have been using MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation since college but veered away from it for a while while trying out different liquid foundations. I’ve brought it back recently and been using it over top of my BB Cream for more coverage during the week for work or if we’re going out somewhere over the weekend. It’s light enough to not feel too heavy on my face but still provides more coverage to cover up any blemishes or skin imperfections for nicer occasions. It’s also nice to keep in my purse to touch up if I see any oil starting to break through. This is a more moderately priced item but is still affordable at $27.50.
3. Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF
Let me start by saying I’m typically not a fan of a primer and feel like they’re a little bit of a scam sometimes. I’ve tried a few others and felt like they didn’t do much of anything. However, a few years ago I had a facial and after my facial while checking out, one of the girls at the front desk was telling me about how the Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield was a great makeup primer. I tried a sample on my hand and was amazed at how smooth it felt but saw the price tag and was like, yeah no I’m good. I’ve had a few gift cards from Christmas lying around and picked this up and have been using it almost daily ever since. It does a great job of priming your skin before applying makeup and does have SPF which again, is great in the summer. It’s very light and makes your skin incredibly smooth. Highly recommend it if you’re willing to pay $65 for it.
4. L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara – Waterproof
This mascara has been getting major publicity lately for being the drugstore dupe of the Better than Sex Mascara from Too Faced. I typically don’t buy Waterproof mascara because it’s a major pain to take off but it is a necessity in the summertime. This mascara gets serious volume and length! I’ve using it regularly but it’s great if you have a spontaneous trip to the pool/lake/river/etc. Definitely a winner at $7 a tube compared to $32 for the name brand option.
5. NARS Orgasm Blush
Last but not least, if you haven’t heard of the cult beauty favorite NARS Orgasm Blush I’m not sure what rock you’ve been living under. However, it totally lives up to the hype. It’s the perfect peachy color with a light shimmer that goes well with sun kissed skin. With that said though, I plan to continue wearing this year round. Because the beauty Gods gave us self tanner.
Well that does it for my Summer 2017 Beauty Favorites! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and stays cool!
What are your summer beauty must-haves?
I’ll have to try the Murad for sure and the mascara! I saw it at the drugstore so now I have to go pick it up!!! I love the Nars blush!
Yeah girl! I think the Murad is worth the money because a little goes a long way and will last a while. And the mascara is a no brainer bc it’s only $7.
