What is it about Spring that just makes you want to clean to heck out of anything and everything? It could potentially be nesting taking over but I have been wanting to clean and organize everything lately! It may have partially been sparked by the organizing post I shared earlier this week in Let’s Talk Tuesday but we have some serious work to do!
We’ve recently started converting a spare bedroom into Liam’s big boy room and are waiting for his mattress and bedding to be delivered before we can officially transition him out of his crib and into his twin bed. The closet in that room is my next major organizing/purging project which I’ll be tackling this weekend. #hoarderstatus

I started our Spring cleaning with some easier tasks in our kitchen last weekend. Why is it that the kitchen always seems to be the pain point for most families? I feel like since it’s a gathering place (hello, there’s food!) it tends to get cluttered easily with mail, cups, random toys, etc. While we’re not in the thick of the bottle days at the moment we don’t have as much to hand wash but we still hand wash all of Liam’s sippy cups plus any of our stainless cups/water bottles. For whatever reason they all seem to collect on the edge of the sink so the first task was to clean all of the sippy cups with the Method Dish Soap. I especially love that its safe for our little guy but smells great too. Double bonus.
Once those were done, I wiped down the counter around the sink and organized our sink accessories so everything looked streamlined and clean.
Next up after wiping the rest of our counters down was our pantry. I’m not going to lie, this is a major work in progress. We’ve definitely made progress here but it’s still not where I’d like it to be. And frankly, I wasn’t confident enough to take a full pantry shot so this is all you’re getting. 🙂
However, this turntable was a game changer for the corner of the shelf where we keep our canned goods. For starters, it made me check expiration dates and toss out the few that were expired. Gross. But it also allowed me to take inventory of what we have and what I don’t need to pick up for a while at the store.
Now we can easily spin the turntable to find what we need and not have things get lost in the great abyss that previously was that dark corner. I also didn’t tell Tyler I was putting this in the pantry and when he opened the door he was like, “Wow, babe! That looks great!” He too appreciates a little decluttering and added functionality. Ok truthfully, he hates clutter more than I do so he was probably happier about it than I was which is saying a lot.
Now that the kitchen and pantry are straight, here’s to tackling that catch-all closet upstairs! I’ve definitely got my work cut out for me!
