Somehow our sweet baby Liam is now 1 and is a full-blown toddler! We had a great birthday party for him with family and friends that he loved and was on a major sugar high by the end of the afternoon!
When it came time to pick a theme for his party, we instantly knew it had to be a Mickey Mouse party. Our boy is Mickey Mouse obsessed and we’re Disney obsessed (we actually got engaged on Disney property!) so it just made sense! I knew I wanted super cute invitations and these that I ordered did not disappoint! I have ordered invites from Etsy before and had to print them myself and couldn’t always find the right size envelopes to go with it and was just generally a little disappointed. These, however, were the total opposite! They printed them for me and did the return address labels as well and were very high quality. We were very pleased and would definitely order from them again.
Naturally he needed a coordinating Mickey Mouse shirt and not just any Mickey shirt would do! I’m a little lot monogram obsessed and wanted him to have a special shirt with his name on it so I ordered his shirt from Monogram 4 Me on Etsy. Again, fantastic quality and everyone at the party loved it. Highly recommend both sellers! (not sponsored I just really liked both products)
I purchased these adorable Mickey Mouse banner’s (above and below) on Amazon and was super happy with them. Unfortunately, Liam loved the one I attached to his high chair a lot too and, if you look closely, ripped the E and the O before his party even started. Nothing a little scotch tape couldn’t fix but boy did it give my Type A self a run for my money when setting up and stressing about everything not being perfect. I needed to take a big Wooooo Saaaahhh for a minute.
All that aside, Liam absolutely loved (and still loves because it’s still fully inflated almost a week later!) this Mickey Mouse Air Walker Balloon I got. It’s enormous and he goes up and hits it like a punching bag and giggles like a mad man. Totally worth it!
Quick note about the balloons, I might have over done it on the balloons. I ordered 3-ten packs of red, yellow and black balloons and didn’t have a helium tank to blow them up. Thankfully, we have a Food Lion right up the street from us and they blew them up for me (for $25…) but it took almost an hour! We had an assembly line of people cutting string, blowing up the balloons, tying them, etc. It was insane but they were worth it because he loved all of them and couldn’t stop playing with them.
But in the future, I’ll be keeping a helium tank on hand.
My friend Liz made Liam’s cakes that turned out ahhh-mazing! I literally sent her a few photos from Pinterest of what I had in mind and she just took it and ran with it. I didn’t even ask for a smash cake and she went ahead and made him one anyway (which I’m so thankful she did in retrospect!)
Seriously look how adorable that little smash cake was!
And look how much he loved it! He was a little hesitant at first to dig in so we had to help him a little bit (hence why I put it up to his face) but he eventually dug in on his own and LOVED it!
Liam actually liked it so much he required a bath afterwards because it was literally everywhere. I put him to bed that night and was still cleaning out cake from his ear. At least he enjoyed it though, right?
I gave him a bath the next day and couldn’t figure out what was all over the bath mat and then I remembered the cake aftermath.
For food, I took the easy way out and ordered Chick-fil-a platters because, who doesn’t love Chick-fil-a?! We got a platter of 200 chicken nuggets and wraps and they were all gone at the end of the day. Best decision ever!
And because we needed something with some nutritional value, my mother-in-law made a delicious fruit salad and served it in half of a watermelon. It was so adorable!
All in all, it was a great party! We were all pooped by the end of the night and Liam was spent so it was all well worth it! Now I just need my baby boy to stop growing up so fast!
