I know I’m starting this 7 months late but I want to share Liam’s remaining monthly recaps leading up to his 1st birthday. I hope you enjoy! If you’d like to see anything else in these posts, please comment below!
This kid y’all. He seriously is the light of our lives. I know every parent feels that way about their own child but watching him grow and learn and take in the world around him is seriously the best thing ever. It really does feel like it wasn’t that long ago that we just brought him home and now he’s closer to being a toddler than a newborn. Cue the tears!
But really, he is SO happy! All of the women at his daycare absolutely love him. Everyone who meets him comments on how happy and smiley he is. We really truly lucked out with his temperament. He’s basically the best ever. 🙂
Poor guy had a rough two weeks earlier this month with an ear infection, an antibiotic that didn’t agree with him and gave him severe diaper rash, a virus of some sort that made him break out in hives which led to a weekend of Benadryl and, eventually, a trip to the ER. Fortunately, the medicine he was given in the ER worked almost immediately and he was able to get some relief and some sleep finally.
Pro tip: If you want to get seen quickly in the emergency room, just tell them you have a child with an allergic reaction. We were seen immediately and had doctors waiting for us in a room once we left triage. The quick response made this very nervous momma quite happy!
New this month:
We are officially on the move. The army crawl is no more and he is in to everything. Its like his daily goal to figure out how he can get to the curtains and pull them down. And man is he busy. He is not content with sitting still for long or doing one thing for longer than about 15 minutes. Liam is definitely keeping us on our toes (or feet, really) making sure we’re watching him constantly so he doesn’t get into something he shouldn’t.
He has also, within the last few days, started trying to pull up on things and has been successful a handful of times. I’m really thinking we’re going to have a walker on our hand by 9 months I’m really not ready for that. Maybe we should buy some baby gates or baby proof the house?
We also now have two bottom teeth! And I also now understand why parents hate teething. Sheeeeesh! He did not enjoy cutting his teeth let alone one at a time. Tyler and I’s sleep didn’t enjoy it either. But they’ve both cut through and he can now take bites of food which is kind of exciting.
Sleep:
Parents with babies who are sleeping through the night at 8 weeks I understand you the least. Our little guy is not a good sleeper…or wasn’t anyway. I don’t want to jinx it buuuut I feel like we’re finally making progress sleep wise. He has given us 3 glorious nights of uninterrupted sleep since he’s been born. Three! But, I feel like once he hit 6 months he finally started getting the whole nighttime sleep thing and he’s only regularly (teething and illnesses aside) been waking up once a night, usually around 3:00-3:30am after going down around 7:30pm. I think the 3:00am wake up is becoming habit though so we may have some sleep training in our future but for now, We’re enjoying finally getting some decent stretches of sleep.
