Yesterday our sweet boy turned 19th months old! He is at such a fun age and is full of personality and is such a joy in our lives. I can only hope that this new baby will be as happy as he is.
New these past few months:
After seeing Liam’s pediatrician for his 18 month check up, she suggested that we start to cut his paci use to just nap time and bedtime. He has been seriously addicted to his paci but daycare didn’t have him using it nearly as frequently as we did at home so the transition hasn’t been bad unless he really starts to meltdown. I still keep an emergency paci in the diaper bag to prevent meltdowns in public but we’ve definitely been using it sparingly.
He’s also talking so much more. It’s so funny to see him develop his vocabulary and the words he picks up. A frequent word we hear is “Mine!”. Thanks daycare.
Sleep:
I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that Liam isn’t a good sleeper. We can go a few weeks with him sleeping pretty well and then all the sudden he will start waking up at 4:00am and not want to go back to sleep. When we went to New York, we came home to him kicking and screaming whenever we tried to put him in his crib (more so at night but still at nap time too) and going back to the days of having to get him to sleep and creeping out of his room like he was a newborn. Fortunately, that has passed (knock on wood) but he just seems to go through phases where we’re good and then throws us for a loop where I wonder how we ever made it through his infancy in such little sleep.
We also plan to transition him to a big boy bed in the next month or two so the crib can be used for the new baby. Of course, I’m sure this will provide us with a whole new set of challenges with his sleep and getting him to actually sleep and not run around his room like a crazy person for hours. Sometime in that time frame our pediatrician also suggested for us to cut his paci out completely prior to the new baby’s arrival so he is over it before there are pacifiers around again. Apparently we’re crazy because that’s a lot to do at once but wish us luck! And send coffee.
