Somehow 4 months have gone by since my last update on our sweetest Liam. Quite a lot has happened over these last 4 months and Liam has grown and developed so much and it amazes us each and every day. The saying “Time is a Thief” really is so incredibly true. I can’t believe our “baby” is now a running, climbing, 3 feet tall toddler. Wasn’t it just yesterday I had a sweet 11 lb. 6.5 oz. baby laid on my chest?
New these past few months:
What a whirlwind! We had Liam’s first Halloween, Liam got tubes in his ears, went to Disney World and then on a Disney Cruise, to come back home for the holidays. As I’ve mention in the past, Liam had a horrible time with ear infections and since he had had quite a few in a 6 month period, we were able to get him in to get tubes 2 days before we left for our cruise. It seemed to be almost immediate after having the procedure that Liam has started talking more and more clearly. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not speaking in full sentences but it has done wonders for his speech! I highly recommend it!
We had an absolute blast on our trip and we learned Liam is a great traveler and is really quite adaptive to his surroundings. He loved all of the characters (minus Rapunzel) and even ran past the line trying to get to them. This kid really has no fear.
Liam thoroughly enjoyed Christmas and was spoiled beyond belief. Seriously, the kid got so many stinking toys. He really got into tearing opening presents and ogling the gift he just received just for the next present to be placed in front of him. The magic of Christmas really does come alive once you have children.
Sleep:
While we had a few setbacks after daylight savings and while we were traveling, it seems we have finally gotten back on track. He typically goes down between 7:00-7:30 each night and we go in his room and turn on his sound machine which almost instantly triggers him to get sleepy. I’ll get him in his jammies and read him a book (sometimes two) and then turn off the lamp in his room and we say prayers and I since him “You are my Sunshine” and that’s it. Sometimes he’ll get right up to go to his crib but other times I’ll say “Ni-night I love you” and he’ll turn to give me a kiss and then I lay him down and he’s out.
If someone had told me when Liam was 6 months and still waking up multiple times a night that there would come a day that I could basically just plop him in his crib and walk away and he’d go to sleep I would have laughed at them. But, by the grace of God, we have finally gotten to a great place.
And I’m sure I just jinxed myself.
Food:
Liam’s favorite thing in the world. This kid can eat! So much so, my mother-in-law got Liam a shirt in Disney that says, “I’m here for the snacks”. He really is a bottomless pit…as long as it’s something he wants to eat. Try to give him a vegetable and he’ll spit it back out at you. But give him a carb and you’re in like Flynn! He also loves fruit but won’t eat hardly any meat. We’ve been successful with deli ham and hot dogs and that pretty much sums up his meat consumption. On occasion he’ll have a few bites of ground taco meat or something off one of our plates but he just seems to enjoy pretty much anything else. Can’t say I blame him though. Who doesn’t love carbs?
