This is a little delayed but this handsome dude turned 11 months on Friday the 18th! Which means I only have one more monthly update and will officially have a toddler on my hands. I know everyone told me a million and one times while I was pregnant how quickly time goes but gosh were they right!
Taking these monthly photos is getting seriously hard. This is one of 2 photos where he is sitting (mostly) still. The rest are all action photos and none of them include him leaving the sticker stuck to the chair. Guess he thought it tasted better than it looked on the chair. I’ll put a few bloopers at the bottom of the post for your viewing pleasure. 🙂
New this month:
Liam went to the beach for the first time! He was hesitant at first but eventually really took to the water and even started letting go of our hands and just taking off towards the water. However, unlike most kids, he really didn’t care for the sand. Don’t get me wrong, he enjoyed playing in it with toys and “helping” my Step Dad build sand castles but if he fell and got it all over his hands? He started freaking out and shaking his hands because he didn’t want it on him. He did learn how to climb the stairs while at the beach house which was cute at first and then quickly became not so cute when we had to keep chasing him. Thank the Lord for baby gates!
Sleep:
What’s sleep? On a serious note though, when we took our first family vacation since Liam was born and it was his first time, other than being at daycare, sleeping somewhere other than our house. He did great the first few nights and didn’t have any middle of the night wake ups but did decide that 5:00am was a great time to get the day started. The last two nights, on the other hand, were not so good. He woke up once each night on top of waking up around 5:00-5:30am. We assumed he was just ready to get back into his normal routine and he slept great the first night home but ever since that night, we’ve been struggling.
I have just resigned myself to the fact that he isn’t a good sleeper. He is such a happy baby 90% of the time he’s just a little more high maintenance when it comes to sleeping I guess. And as Tyler said last night as we were up with him for 2+ hours, he’s totally worth waking up for. While I am absolutely guilty of getting frustrated when he wakes up after I just got him down (or so I thought), Tyler is absolutely right. He is worth every sleepless night 100x over.
Food:
This is one area he regressed a bit that I wasn’t anticipating. He’s always been such a great eater that when he went through a phase where the only things I could get him to eat were watermelon, puffs and goldfish I was a little stumped. He has recently decided he doesn’t like eggs which is weird because who (other than Guy Fieri) doesn’t like eggs? I didn’t think the picky stage started until he was a full-blown toddler but I guess I was wrong.
While on vacation he started eating more again which was great and he tried a lot of new foods which made life a lot easier. He got super spoiled with treats and even had his first cake pop on an early morning Starbucks run. Are you ever too young for your first cake pop?
