We interrupt your regularly scheduled Let’s Talk Tuesday programming to bring you Liam – 10 month check-in and baby product favorites!
Today this handsome little dude turns 10 months old! How on earth can my baby boy be only two months away from his 1st birthday?? I don’t even feel like it’s possible. I know I say this all the time but he truly is the light of our lives and the best gift we have ever received. We were so blessed with a happy baby and for that I am truly thankful…and hope the next one, should we be so lucky, isn’t a complete terror. 🙂
New this month:
This kid is seriously on the move! I know I said that last month but in the past week or so Liam has transitioned his preferred mode of transportation from crawling to walking. He’s really started to trust himself and it’s so adorable to watch him waddle around the house.
He’s also a serious motor mouth. He’s still not making much sense when he says anything but some days I feel like he’s talking constantly. And I have absolutely no idea where he gets that from… Most of the time he’s just babbling but I’ve noticed a lot of “Ayayayaya” lately. He sounds like he Karate chopping all of his toys at times.
On the list of words he’s saying now are: Dada, Baba, and “Dissie” (for our dog Dixie). In case you didn’t notice, Mama wasn’t on that list. Seriously, he got the dog’s name down before my own. How is that even possible? I’m only slightly offended.
Liam also had a major growth spurt. When we took Liam for his 9 month check-up he was 24lbs 12oz (98th percentile) and 31.5 inches long (99th percentile)! Unfortunately, he had yet another ear infection so we had to set up a follow-up appointment to check his ear again. At that appointment (2 weeks later) he gained an entire pound and was 25lb 15oz! Clearly the kid’s not missing any meals. But since he finally was in the weight range to flip him around in his car seat, Tyler turned both of our car seats around so now he has a whole new take on life. It was so adorable to watch him get into both of our cars with his seat turned around and see him look at the car like he’d never been in them before. Watching the world through your child’s eyes is truly magical.
Sleep:
Since I mentioned Liam’s sleep last month, things got a little worse before they got better. Liam was consistently waking up around 3:30 and wouldn’t settle down without either a bottle or without cuddling with Mama in our bed. Clearly that wasn’t going to fly long-term and just when we were about to do some more sleep training, he flipped a switch. He slept from 8:00pm to 6:30am one night and we felt like we hit the lottery! He has, unfortunately, become a little more difficult to get down the past few days but I’ll take that over middle of the night wake-ups any day.
Liam still isn’t sleeping all that well at daycare and still will take about an hour nap most days when he gets home but he has gotten a bit better. He even was sleeping so poorly one week he was sleeping on a mat on the floor with his head on a pillow cuddled up with one of the teachers and she would pat his back to keep him asleep. #spoiled Fingers crossed once he goes up into the toddler room and everyone sleeps at the same time he’ll get a little better.
Food:
Ahhh food. Gone are the days of feeding my little baby purees or pouches. This kid is super independent and has no time or interest in you trying to feed him. He wants to feed himself, hold his own fork/spoon, etc.
Clearly Liam has no probably eating whether it be from a bottle, pouch or table food hence his major growth spurt and weight gain. However, we have had our challenges with him becoming a little picky lately. (thought that didn’t start until he was a toddler?!) There were a few weeks when I felt all he would eat was watermelon, puffs/lil’ crunchies and mac ‘n cheese. To the point I thought he might turn into a puff. I guess I should be happy watermelon is a fruit? But we have turned a bit of a corner and have been loving the Dr. Praeger’s Spinach and Broccoli Littles to sneak in some veggies lately. He loves these thank goodness! Mom and Dad like them too…just saying.
