Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Back in the day, this day meant a massive party night with all of my friends who were back in town. But now? It means taking my toddler to get tubes in his ears at the crack of dawn and playing nurse for the remainder of the day. My how times have changed!
Speaking of things that have changed, Liam is totally a big boy now. He wants zero to do with me helping him eat or feeding him. With the exception of helping him get all of the apple sauce or yogurt out of his pouches. That’s serious business.
(Side note: Please ignore the Harry Potter mark on his forehead. He grabbed my straightener and smacked himself in the face with it as I grabbed it from him. Needless to say, my hair ended up in a ponytail after that. And yes, he’s fine.)
As he’s gotten older, Liam has started refusing to let us help him eat 9 times out of 10. In an effort to not make my anxiety go through the roof, we’ve tried to make it as easy for him to master on his own but eliminate too much of a mess. Which is virtually impossible but a girl can dream.
I tried to start him out with a snack keeper when he was like 10-11 months old and he just couldn’t quite figure it out. But around 12-13 months he really started to get it. The Nuby Designer Series Snack Keeper has been a serious lifesaver! Liam’s snack of choice lately has been a mix of Cheerios and raisins. He can easily maneuver his hand in there to get his snacks in and out. Unfortunately for me, he has also learned how to hold the pieces down on the top and shake everything out. But, as I’ve learned, sometimes you have to pick your battles.
I also really wanted to love this Snack ‘n Sip cup, but it was almost impossible for Liam to get any liquid out. And full disclosure, Tyler and I both tried it too and we could hardly get anything out so this won’t be getting much use anytime soon which is super disappointing. I love the print and that its dual purpose. Womp womp.
Best of all though are these No-spill 360 Wonder Cups. Liam was completely addicted to these when he first started using a sippy cup and, for whatever reason, I resisted trying these 360 cups. I’m totally kicking myself now for resisting for so long! Liam absolutely loves them and they’re super sturdy compared to some others that we’ve tried. If you have a younger baby, they also have the 360 cups with handles for smaller hands that quite can’t grip the whole cup just yet. These are also really great at not spilling…unless your child chucks it off of their high chair repeatedly. But if yours doesn’t do that they’re totally spill-proof!
All of these products can be found on Amazon or Babies R Us so head on over to get yours today!
Note: I was sent these products by Nuby in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
