Thank you to Rev Your Bev for sponsoring this post! As always, all thoughts are 100% my own.
When New Years resolutions rolled around, I vowed to drink more water. As a busy Mom, it’s easy to always lean towards something with caffeine to help me keep up with my kids but let’s be real, we all need to drink more water! And truthfully, I do love water. But I found that I wasn’t drinking enough despite breastfeeding that makes you 100x thirstier.
I know most people really struggle with getting more water in during the day because they either want something flavored or just flat out forget to drink it. Today I’m bringing you a few tips for how I get more water in throughout the day.
The number one way I get my water in each day is by carrying my water bottle with me literally everywhere. No really, I take it everywhere. It’s insulated so it keeps my water ice cold which is just how I like it. I’ve heard drinking room temperature water is better for your hydration but I just can’t down with that. Ice cold all the way!
The next way I get my water in is by using a straw. I have this straw cap for my water bottle that makes it way easier to sip on throughout the day instead of unscrewing the cap each time I want to take a sip and praying I don’t pour it all of over myself with the wide opening…which I have done more times than I would like to admit. It also prevents spills if it tips over which is very necessary given I have two kids who think what’s mine is theirs and what’s theirs is theirs.
I also like to flavor my water with fruit. The easiest, and probably most common, option is to slice a lemon and squeeze it into my glass. It gives it a nice, refreshing flavor while still mixing it up from plain water. Aside from the great taste, it’s also great for detoxifying your liver.
If I’m really feeling fancy, fruit infused water is so good! I first got the idea from my hair salon who always has infused water available for clients. My favorite combination to keep on hand is definitely strawberry kiwi. It’s a little tart but has enough sweetness from the strawberries that it balances out the tartness. Plus, I end up getting in extra fruit each day. I typically use a regular pitcher but a pitcher like this is also great and keeps the fruit out of your water if you’re not into that kinda thing.
Lastly, sparkling water is a huge trend right now and there’s definitely a reason for it! If I’m craving something carbonated, sparkling water is a great way to satisfy the need for bubbles but ditch the sugar and/or artificial sweeteners.
While I still enjoy my caffeinated beverages, I am pleased to say I have been drinking significantly more water with these simple switches.
Rev Your Bev Day is an annual statewide day of action to raise awareness about the incredible health benefits you can see by making water your No. 1 beverage of choice. More than 1,800 events have taken place across Virginia since 2013.
