Thank you for visiting The Blessed Mess!
After having a food blog (Spicy Richmond) for a year or so back in 2011-2012, I got burnt out on only sharing recipes, fighting the daylight to photograph said recipes and not feeling as invested in its success as I should have. So Spicy Richmond bit the proverbial dust.
Fast forward to 2017, and I have since gotten engaged to my wonderful husband Tyler- 10/25/13.
Got our puppy, Dixie Mae.
Got married – 10/25/14.
Got pregnant. Photo Credit: Ashley Duke
And had our son, Liam.
Whew!
With all of those life changes, I felt myself being drawn back to the blogging world again thus inspiring The Blessed Mess!
A little about me:
I’m born and raised in Richmond, VA and even stuck around for college while attending Virginia Commonwealth University. I’m married to an amazing man and loving father and truly feel like I found my soul mate when I met this guy. We have a son who is the light of our lives and we can’t remember what life was like before he joined our family!
Being from the South, food equals comfort to me and I love cooking and entertaining and being with those I love the most. I’m slightly monogram obsessed – if it doesn’t move, monogram it! I have a mild addiction to hot sauce and spicy food (hence the former food blog Spicy Richmond).
I’m mildly OCD – but only when I want to be. I get in random cleaning fits and can’t be stopped until everything is complete…but at other times the mess totally doesn’t bother me.
When I was 14 years old I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC), an Autoimmune Disease, and have struggled with going in and out of remission for the last 15 or so years. I hope that through this blog I can raise awareness about IBD and help others going through the same thing as other bloggers with UC like Carrots ‘n Cake and Against All Grain have helped me by sharing their stories.
